Men's denim pant is made out of fabric of cotton yarns of lower counts i.e. slightly lighter thickness. The weave is generally twill weave but in ring denim, the weave is different. The basic blue fabric in denim is yarn dyed i.e. the color is not obtained by dyeing the fabric but the fabric is made from dyed yarn. In denim, one of the yarns is blue (indigo) and the other is white. Denim pant fabrics is also found in two other basic forms i.e. black denim where one yarn is white and other is black and finally where both the yarns are in ecru color.
In order to obtain different color effect for Men's denim pant, some of the shades are used to soften the fabric and give it the faded look, the denim pant is then washed with enzymes or pumice stones. The pumice stone are stone which are formed after volcanic eruption. These stone can easily float on water.
These stones are put in huge machines with the stone and then tumbled. The stones rub against the fabric and generally add luster and the required smoothness to the fabric as well as give the faded look to the fabric. Enzymes are used nowadays instead of stones. There are normally 3 types of washing when it comes in terms of denim pants.
The first one is the dark stone wash where the quantity of stone used is least and the effect is that the pant looks dark blue and appears less faded. The second one is the stone wash where the quantity of stone used is more than in dark stone wash which causes the color to become lighter than in dark stone wash and the last one is the double stone wash that is where the maximum amount of stone is used such that the denim pant bears a very light blue color. Sometimes, the stone or enzymes are used so much that the garment loses almost all its color and this wash is sometimes referred to as ice wash.
